Best Coffee Shops to Work Remotely in Seattle
A list of recommended Wi-Fi friendly coffee shops near Seattle to work remotely. Updated regularly.
Are you in search of the ultimate spots in Seattle for remote work? After relocating to the Ballard neighborhood of North Seattle in 2021, and then to Magnolia in 2024, I've been on the hunt for the best coffee shops and bakeries in and around the city. My criteria are twofold: these venues must not only foster a productive work atmosphere but also boast a delectable range of food and beverages.
Below, youβll find my list of recommended (and not-so-great) bakeries and coffee shops in Seattle to work remotely. Iβll keep this page updated regularly.

- My favorite spot to grab a coffee, pastries, and get some work done. Very fast and reliable Wi-Fi. Excellent place to get out of the house and work from.
- Seating & Atmosphere: Ample seating, although it can get busy. Lots of regulars seem to work from here. It's especially busy during the weekend. Decor is your typical PNW "woodsy", a mix of Seattle and Portland vibes.
- Service: Staff are super friendly and bring your order to you. They even bus your table and fill up water!
- Coffee & Drink: The coffee itself is always super smooth and delicious (they roast their own).
- Food: The pastries totally caught me by surprise. The ham and cheese croissant has so much flavor, and they have a very tasty almond croissant.
π€ Meh
- Location: A little off the beaten path (highway 99).
π Internet Access
- Wi-Fi password with gated access; ask for the password at the counter. No time limit.
- Wi-Fi speed: π Fast (115 Mbps β / 96Mbps β)
Woodland Coffee (West Woodland/Ballard)

Typical weekday hours: π’ 6:30am - 6pm
Address: π1417 NW 54th St #101, Seattle, WA 98107

π Good
- Very fast and reliable Wi-Fi. I used to live close by, so this was my usual spot when I needed to get out of the house and change up the scenery.
- Seating & Atmosphere: Very cozy and woodsy "PNW" vibe. Plenty of seating with bar-height tables, bench seating up front near the entry windows, and a lounge area in the back. There's also an outdoor garden/patio area for nice days. It can get busy, I typically see people working or studying from here.
- Service: The baristas are always friendly!
- Coffee & Drink: Coffee is good and they always have a couple artisanal roasts on hand.
- Bonus: Dog friendly! πΆ They have treats and water bowls for your pup.
π€ Meh
- Food: Pastries and bakery items aren't to die for. The selection is usually on the drier sideβscones, biscuits, etc. I've had much better options elsewhere in the area, and there is no kitchen.
π Internet Access
- Wi-Fi password; ask for the password at the counter. No time limit.
- Wi-Fi speed: π Fast (44 Mbps β / 55Mbps β)
Fresh Flours (Phinney Ridge)

Typical weekday hours: π’ 6am - 5pm
Address: π 6015 Phinney Ave N Seattle, WA 98103

π Good
- Service: Friendly, you can also order ahead online if you're in a hurry.
- Coffee & Drink: Excellent coffee from Onda Origins.
- Food: Delicious pastries; my favorites are the ham and cheese croissant, almond croissant, and azuki bean croissant.
π€ Meh
- Seating & Atmosphere: Plenty of seating, but it can get crowded. There's a large room in the back with plenty of 2-top tables, but they are small and they're all up against the perimeter walls so it can feel a little tight. In the middle of the room there's a large shared table. There's also a bar area next to a long windowβthis is my favorite place to sit but it's often occupied.
- It can get a little chilly inside.
π Internet Access
- Password, ask at the counter. No time limit.
- Wi-Fi speed: π Fast
Coyle's Bakeshop (Greenwood)

Typical weekday hours: π’ 7am - 3pm
Address: π 8300 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103

π Good
- If you can provide your own internet (see below), this place has everything else you could ask for: some of the best pastries and coffee you can get in Seattle.
- Seating & Atmosphere: Ample seating, with some booths along the interior wall, and low-top bar-style seating that faces the street with plenty of light to boost that Vitamin D. Very nice atmosphere with lots of timber.
- Service: Very friendly and it was easy to order. A mostly open kitchen lets you see the staff hard at work, crafting pastries, as you place your order.
- Coffee & Drink: I tried an oat milk latte with a cardamom-flavored syrup, very tasty combination.
- Food: I ordered a savory scone and fruit tart/galette (topped with Apple filing). Both pastries were delicious, I especially enjoyed the scone's dill and cheddar flavors.
π Internet Access
- β None available, you'll have to use a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Uptown Espresso (Magnolia)

Typical weekday hours: π’ 6am - 5pm
Address: π 3223 W McGraw St, Seattle, WA 98199

π Good
- Seating & Atmosphere: Lots of nice, cozy seating, including big sofa style chairs. Seems to be a lot of people here that like to work from home.
- Service: The service was friendly.
- Coffee & Drink: I haven't tried their coffee, but their Chai tea latte is pretty good, and very spicy!
- Food: I enjoyed their coffee cake.
π Bad
- There's Wi-Fi, but it was pretty slow and unreliable, just like their other location in Delridge/North Seattle (see below). I had to use my hotspot.
π Internet Access
- Password protected
- Wi-Fi speed: π’ Slow (26.996 Mbps β / 5.57Mbps β)
Other Locations
Below is a list of coffee shops and cafes in Seattle I've visited that don't quite hit the mark across the categories of service, seating/ambiance, food/drink, and internet access.
However, I think they're still worth giving a visit for one reason or another, highlighted below:
- Sound and Fog (West Seattle)
- Good coffee and service.
- No Wi-Fi, and unless you live in West Seattle, it's quite out of the way.
- Living Room Cafe (Bitter Lake)
- Ample seatingβa bar, a couch, a few lazy boys, several tables, and a nice bench seat that runs along the back. Really nice atmosphere and space. Woodsy, PNW, with industrial-style tables and decor.
- The coffee and food are just OK. My pastry was dry.
- The internet speed was extremely slow. This is not a suitable workplace if you rely on the internet for most of your work. They also have a weird 2-hour limit, tied to your purchase.
- Uptown Espresso (Delridge/West Seattle)
- Nice and cozy place to site and grab a coffee with ample seating. Lots of morning light. Tasty coffee.
- There's Wi-Fi, but it was extremely slow and unusable for any internet browsing. I had to use my hotspot. There wasn't much of a working atmosphere when I went on a Thursday morning.
- Preserve and Gather (Greenwood)
- Amazing food (pastries) and decent coffee.
- The Wi-Fi is really slow, and seating is limited. It can also be difficult to find parking.
